I’m happy to share the newest member of our family. Meet Neko. We adopted this little fellow on Thursday from a nice family in Cordell, Oklahoma.
He’s friendly and playful but cautiously exploring his surroundings. He’s already staked out his play space, a few napping spots, and his current favorite hidey hole. He’s timid yet brave. He was so brave at the vet on Saturday when he got his shots. He’s a very vocal kitten. He pretty much announces his presence wherever he goes. He’s also very clingy right now, understandably. He’s got to be where you are at all times, including bedtime. He’s already decided his spot is right next to your head on the pillow.
So, Donna named him Neko, but we’ve ended up calling him Nicky. Little Nicky. It seems fitting. He's kind and sweet but still the spawn of Satan. I was reminded of that this morning in the shower with every stinging scratch on my arms and legs from those kitten-sized murder mittens of his. Ha!
It’s only been a few days, but it’s been nice having a kitten in the house again. Our home had seemed very empty since Kelso left us a year ago. A year ago. I honestly didn’t realize it’s been about an entire year, almost to the day, until I was writing this. Odd how the universe works sometimes.
More later. Time to take a nap. Those 3:00 AM zoomies are wearing me out.
