Writer’s Executive Dysfunction

Not exactly a writer's block; I've got too many topics.

Oh, dear. This is going to be one of those times, isn’t it? I just can’t focus on what to write about today. It’s not writer’s block exactly, more like writer’s executive dysfunction. I have too many topics running around in my head. I can’t pick one.

I thought about writing about the continued fall of X/Twitter and how Elon Musk has arbitrarily thrown away decades of brand recognition. I've already removed the X app from my phone; I’m all in on Mastodon anyway.

I could write about Oklahoma Superintendent of Education Ryan Walters. Every week, it's something new with the guy. Just read some of the articles I've shared. He and his supporters really need to stop their attacks on public education.

After being on it for the last ten weeks, I thought about giving an Ozempic update and what it’s like dealing with its side effects. Long story short: fine, but not comfortably. I’m dealing with occasional nausea and “Cheerio” burps.

That’s just three examples. There are a few more rattling around in there wanting to be written about.

So dear writer friends. What kind of advice can you give about dealing with writer’s executive dysfunction?

This Week

Helpful Summertime Tip

If you don’t have a windshield sunshade, park your car facing away from the sun, especially in the afternoon. Then you won’t need oven mitts to drive home after work.

Back to Podcast

With all the little rabbit hole projects done, it’s time to stop procrastinating and dive back into the podcast. So, for this entire week, I’m going to work on at least three scripts. Well, it’s a goal anyway. Fingers crossed everyone. I’ll have the project board on Trello updated by Wednesday.

More later. Time to focus.

Listening In

This past week, I've been listening to some really good live music streams on YouTube, such as Lofi Girl's lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to, Indie Folk ~ 24/7 Radio, Cafe Music BGM channel's Relaxing Jazz Piano Radio, Ill-Advised Records' THE WEATHER CHANNEL - Dark Lofi Hip Hop, and Nuclear Blast Records' METAL 24/7 Live Stream.

I started listening to Space: 1969 by Bill Oakley on Audible. It's a short Audible original with full-cast narration. I thought it would be a good pallet cleanser after finishing the Gaean Trilogy.

I'm also binge-watching Red vs Blue on YouTube. I'm up to Season 4: Project Freelancer.
