It’s Spring here in Oklahoma. All around us, the landscape has slowly been turning green again. With our awakening verdant yard comes beauty and dread. Why dread? Spring always brings two things here in Oklahoma: severe weather and seasonal allergies. With severe weather comes high winds. Those same winds have been kicking up dust, pollen, spores, and all sorts of particulates from multiple states to deposit on our little prairie town. And Donna and I get to enjoy this dusty bounty by celebrating with a multi-week coughing fit. Donna got the worst of it this year by developing bronchitis on top of it all. Luckily, we're feeling much better after lots of rest and handfuls of medications. It makes me wonder if we should dig all our masks back out and wear them at this time of year. Wouldn’t that be fun to do again? Ha! -cough-

@NWSAmarillo - (Apr 5, 2023) The yellow streaks are the blowing dust across the region, but see that spot in New Mexico? That is White Sands National Park, and with our strong SW winds, some of that sand was also streaming into the region.

This Week

I didn’t get to work much on anything outside of work last week due to that cough. So, I’m busy catching up on things and hope to return to working on the podcast soon.

I’m also looking around for a new Markdown editor. My preferred editor, Markdown Pad 2, has had issues lately. I’m uncertain if the developer is even working on the software anymore. I’ve looked at Typora, Ghostwriter, Haroopad, Writemonkey, and Caret so far. All are okay but they don’t match my workflow needs. Ghostwriter has come the closest. So, I’m keeping it as a fallback if I don’t find anything else.

More Later. Time to go buy some more Kleenex.

Listening In

To keep myself motivated during the week-long coughing fit, I've been listening to music more on the heavy side with artists like Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Armored Saint, Avenge Sevenfold, and UFO.

I still listening to Titan by John Varley on Audible. Titan is the first book in the Gaea Trilogy.
